Post Mortem Forensic Art

Forensic art techniques are used to produce an appropriate, ‘sanitised’ image of a deceased individual for use in publicity appeals, enabling police to gain information from the public.

In cases where police are dealing with an unidentified body or a badly injured, unconscious person, forensic artwork can significantly aid identification. This is crucial to enable family members to be informed, and in cases of suspicious deaths, essential to the investigation of tracing a possible killer.

In cases of an injured or recently deceased person a post mortem photo enhancement or a post mortem sketch may be produced; where only skeletal remains are found a forensic facial reconstruction can be produced from the skull. The images below are examples of my work, or see other images of unidentified cases or my Media Portfolio for more examples.
